Important Notice following 2014 AGM
During the 2014 Annual General Meeting, it was agreed that there would be some important changes to the club meetings going forward.
This subject has previously been discussed at club meetings due to the difficulty of arranging activities and organising speakers etc. We have also been notified that we may need to change our meeting venue in the future due to availability of the hall.
A number of options were considered and it has been decided that for now, the frequency of meetings will be changed to be on a bi-monthly basis to make things a bit easier.
Whilst this was agreed, some members felt that only meeting every 2 months might cause people to lose interest and forget when meetings were on. A solution to this may be that we could arrange to have an activity or speaker on a bi-monthly basis as detailed above but with the other months being more of an informal meeting where no specific activity is arranged and members could just come along and chat with their friends and fellow fishkeepers.
This is something that is currently being considered and members will be notified of the situation by email.
For clarity, this currently means meetings for 2015 are as follows:
8th January – No meeting at the hall, instead, we are holding our annual meal on Sat 10th January.
11th March - Speaker or other activity
13th May - Speaker or other activity
8th July - Speaker or other activity
9th September -Speaker or other activity
11th November (AGM)
Possible Informal meetings (Members to be notified):
It was agreed at the AGM that we will give this a try and see how it works but I would ask members to please respond with a yes or no answer to any emails relating to the informal meetings. Without this we will struggle to make it work.
Many thanks for your support, if you have any questions, please email me using the 'contact' page.
Whether you are a newcomer to the hobby and setting up your first aquarium or a veteran with forty years experience and a hundred tanks in the shed, you will find our club to be a friendly and interesting opportunity to exchange ideas with or obtain assistance from the our wealth of member's experiences.
Our club members keep or have kept pretty much every type of aquarium fish there is and have successfully bred many many species. Some members have specialist interests, such as cichlids, plants, ponds or killifish for example, and often have dedicated "fishhouses" in their garages or gardens containing dozens of aquariums.
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at Salvation Army Hall in Harpenden AL5 2TG and start at 8pm.
Please see our Diary page to see whats on.
Car parking space is available behind the hall, if you turn into Amenbury Lane, there is a sharp turn into the carpark on the right hand side. Please see the map below along with an overhead view showing the car park and rear entrance to the building.
